Going West

Posted in Oh The Humanity! on December 26th, 2006 by The Retropolitan

I’m on my way west right now, enjoying the benefits the Acela open wireless network in Penn Station. What dangers await me after the signal fails? What perils will I encounter on my journey? WHAT IF THEY RUN OUT OF THOSE MICROWAVABLE HAMBURGERS?

Taking Amtrak really adds that all-important element of danger to my trips.

Come what may, Merry Christmas…

…and goodwill towards men.

It’s Too Bright Outside to be 5:00 AM

It’s always a great day when you wake up two hours after you were supposed to be at work, and no one seems to care whatsoever that you’re still in your jammies when you finally show up.

These are good days.  Everyone have themselves a good weekend!

Q and A

I don’t know how many of you out there are big movie fans, much less movie fans that hit the major gossip sites everyday like I do.  In case you don’t run to Aint-It-Cool or Chud every morning before work, there’s been an interesting trend that I noticed over the past few months: lots of ongoing question-and-answer sessions with filmmakers.  Chud’s got Joe “Narc” Carnahan doing stuff now, and Aintitcool has been running a seemingly never-ending column of Sylvester “Rocky Balboa” Stallone answering fan questions.  (I think he just did part twenty.  That’s twenty days of Stallone!  Honestly, they were very fun.)

Since I have no other valid ideas for posts, I will steal this: ask me anything at all you want about the movie Rocky Balboa!  Or anything else, for that matter.  I don’t really know anything about Rocky Balboa.  In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever even seen Rocky.  So, leave your questions in the comments, unless it’s about whether or not I’ve seen Rocky.  In that case, just reread this paragraph until you understand.

If you don’t have any questions, then it’s like a day off for me.

Back to Normal

After a long, difficult day and night of referring to myself as “Rex Lancestrong, Esq.” I’ve decided to go back to calling myself by my other fake pretentious name, “The Retropolitan.”  Having the manliest name of all time was great and all, and I certainly enjoyed the celebrity status that comes with having the sexiest, hunkiest name in the universe, but in the end I was almost overwhelmed by the attention and sexual propositions.

Almost.
