Back for a bit

What a week it’s been!

First, Canada takes another step to legalize gay marriages. Then, the Supreme Court axes the display of the Ten Commandments from courthouses. Tigger dies, Piglet dies. Bush makes a speech continuously linking September 11th to Iraq, although the CIA reported that there officially was no link between the two — and the press calls him on it, to boot. The MTA stops allowing coffee on the NYC subway system. And the courts decide that if it’s in the best interest of the city to demolish my house, they can do so.

(If you hadn’t guessed, these are not actually listed chronologically. I’m bad with the whole ‘time’ thing.)

What have I got to say about all this? Not all that much. I’m just exhausted by the news lately, and it’s tough to keep up since I’ve been busy doing real world things instead of hounding the blogs and news sites all day; had I the time, I probably would’ve written a small novel about the events of the past two weeks alone. I would have titled it “Le Affair du Nomenclature,” because I’ve always wanted to write a French-sounding novel. Chateau! Bleu! Soiree!

Anyway, as soon as I find the time, I’ll be popping back up again. I miss this blogging stuff. I need someone to argue with furiously about the existence of god that won’t roll their eyes at me and tell me to be quiet and come back to bed.

Stay tuned…

I…

…I think I love you.

So much that I’ll be back soon with my take on “Land of the Dead,” and the Ten Commandments decision. Maybe I’ll get really creative and weave the two together.

Now it’s actually Friday the 24th

And it’s “Land of the Dead” day! It’s finally here, after twenty years!

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to see it until Sunday afternoon, but at least I’ll be able to check it out with one of my friends that will be able to appreciate it. So far, good reviews, and last time I checked the Tomatometer it was at 70% positive, which is actually about 95% positive in terms of it being a zombie film. All zombie films should be reviewed on a curve, because there’s about one “Night of the Living Dead” for every two-hundred “House of the Dead”s, and that may be underestimating.

In honor of this being a good horror movie day, I submit to you my review of the “Werewolf” television series.

You can check it out here.

Is anyone else in the world as excited about George A. Romero’s “Land of the Dead” as much as I am?

It’s been 20 years since the last entry in his ‘Dead’ series, and there’s a limit to how many times I can watch the original three movies. Actually, that’s a lie. There is no limit to how many times I can sit down and watch those movies. Seriously, ask my girlfriend. She puts up with zombie movies now like they’re something that comes standard with my apartment. After dating for two and a half years, she has learned to actually wait until they cut away from teeth entering flesh before asking me what I feel like for dinner. Bless her heart, she even threatens to make a zombie face and growl at me in the middle of the night if I cross her — that’s true love and understanding.

And terror.

Note to girlfriend: Do not make the zombie face. It is not okay.
